Blind Sided
(John David Brake) from the album Blue Luster
Blind Sided is a very angry song during a very angry time. In the fall of '06, the band (On the Brink) was starting to fall apart. Pat was engaged and the bass player didn't like the direction the band was going. After a heated argument between J.D. and the bass player, and Pat quitting the band to focus on his marriage, OTB broke up. James and J.D. were left to pick up the pieces. Almost a year to the date later Pat, James, and JD met at Scotty's to talk about getting back together and the rest is history. During that time, JD learned that the former bass player was involved with his ex. This was the inspiration for the first "Blue Luster" song.
VI
I couldn’t see it, I can’t believe it,
Right before my eyes.
For no reason, an act of treason,
A devil in disguise
What goes on behind closed doors, what lies behind that grin,
Contradict and preach your lies, and fool us once again,
Chorus
I should have seen it coming, a million miles away,
I sold my soul for nothing and now its time to pay
Every tear, every breath, and every single time,
I sold my soul for nothing, I’m damned because I’m…Blind
V2
You’re so mindless, you’re so spineless,
You’re time is drawing near.
To stand trial, for your denial,
Your Judgment Day is here.
What goes on inside your mind, right before you sin?
Well hell a waits, with open gates. The sign says “come on in”
Chorus
Bridge
It’s all clear to me
Nothing’s what it seems
Now you plant the seed
Time to watch you bleed
